With the current amount of vaccines arriving weekly, 4 months could easily be shortened

The decision to delay the second dose has nothing to do with science. It has everything to do with failure to procure sufficient vaccine.

Very true–what people need to realize is that if only one dose is largely ineffective against the variants, there is no chance for herd immunity. And what we don’t know is whether that second shot will be effective after a 4 month delay–I believe it is likely we’ll have to start the whole process over again from scratch. What I find astounding is that everyone is blaming Doug Ford while the real scoundrel in this fiasco is sitting in Ottawa–the Teflon Prince.

Don’t feel too safe with only one dose. The early results from Qatar show that only one dose of Pfizer is only marginally effective against the variants: https://www.cp24.com/news/early-efficacy-of-first-pfizer-covid-19-shot-in-new-study-doesn-t-disprove-canada-s-dosing-strategy-author-1.5416538

This early one dose strategy would suggest the federal government’s decision to delay the second dose is certainly not the smartest decision.
