In March of 2021, members of the Halton Regional Police Service – 2 District Criminal Investigations Bureau began an investigation into an individual who was trafficking drugs throughout the Town of Oakville. On April 22, 2021, a 16 year-old male from Oakville was arrested charged with the following offences:
• Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
• Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Fentanyl
• Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine & Crack Cocaine
• Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – LSD
• Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Psilocybin
• Possession – Oxycodone
• Trafficking a Controlled Substance
• Possess Cannabis for the Purpose of Selling
• Young Person to Distribute Cannabis (of one or more classes of Cannabis the total amount of which is equivalent as determined with Schedule 3 to be more then 5g of dried cannabis)
• Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
• Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized
• Careless Storage of a Firearm
• Possession of a Restricted Firearm with Ammunition
Following the arrest, a Controlled Drug and Substances Act warrant was conducted at a residence in Oakville. Through the course of the investigation the following items were seized:
• A loaded .45 calibre restricted firearm
• 14 rounds of .45 Cal ammunition
• 19.1 grams of Fentanyl
• 22.1 grams of Cocaine
• 20.9 grams of Crack Cocaine
• 0.6 grams of Oxycodone
• 0.7 grams of LSD
• 122.6 grams of Psilocybin
• 335.4 grams of cannabis marijuana
• 66 (22 gram-24.5 gram) packages of Cannabis Edibles
• 283 (1 gram each) Cannabis Vape Pens
The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
The Youth Criminal Justice Act prevents the police from releasing the name of an accused. Interesting that the police take steps to protect a youth that needs help – where
are the parents.

One thing left out of this article is, where the kid was arrested. Was all of this going on in his family’s home? Curious.
Could the child be taking the rap for his parents?
While this is a sad situation, is there any reason that so many charges are piled up in this case? It seems almost comical when each drug is a separate charge, five or six variations on having an illegal weapon, etc? Are our laws really that complicated?
Wow, this kid is seriously on the wrong road.
Dont blame parents our laws and police in our experience when assisting families dealing with disciplinary actions for children over 12 see them encouraged to be their own person and not subject to parental control.
Ya right. Let’s just blame everyone else except the parents. Let’s blame society, his acquaintances, his schooling, his teachers, social media, too much violent gaming on computers, the loss of his pet, sibling rivalry, the long Canadian winters, the lack of a bicycle, he did not get an iPhone 12, etc….But NOT the parents.
As a generalization, the parent or parents do have a responsibility. Abdication of this role is the initial step in losing control of a young individual of promise.
I don’t know his/her social upbringing and maybe it was horrendous. He/she may not even live at home but possessing a 0.45 calibre restricted firearm, in addition to the narcotics, indicates that he slid down this road way before the age of 16yo.
I do know that without good parental love, support, guidance, a moral compass, respect a child may not become a mature individual who has a sense of worth and self-esteem. Yes, it starts at home first and then the community.
Unbelievable ! That a 16 year old is alleged to be responsible for all that. Where were the parents you ask? These parents are not innocent. They should be charged as an accessory of this crime ! Parents of minors should always be made accountable and responsible of the behaviours of their children.
