City Audit Committee is going to hear what was done on pool time allocation - before the end of this year

November 19th, 2025

BURLINGTON, ON

It will take place.

What was going to be heard was what the city Audit Committee would have to say about the process that was used to allocate swimming pool time at Burlington swimming pools.

It was scheduled to take place on November 26th – that got bumped to December.

It came up early in July and kept being bumped along to the “next Audit Committee meeting”.

Who got what in pool time – and who made the decision?

Today Council decided the meeting would instead take place early in December – the 2nd or 3rd.  Need clarification on the date.

Eve. The procurement process was not properly or fairly followed. That’s is the counsellor and mayor’s business.

I agree with you Allan. It is definitely Council’s business and I would say obligation to have an independent third party (the City Auditor) look into all aspects of the matter. But with respect, Allan, you nor I nor any other member of the public have 100% knowledge of what did or did not happen, whether it was proper or fair. Please wait for the results of the audit (assuming there will be one) before coming to a conclusion.

Council once again sticking their noses where they don’t belong. Blatant interference by Mayor and Council in a procurement process . No wonder they keep putting this meeting off.
How about an accurate report on the time wasted covering this up

I think you may have that a bit wrong, Editor. At last night’s Ward 2 Up-date meeting, which I attended virtually, Councilor Kearns confirmed the subject would be discussed at the Audit Committee meeting to be held on November 26th. It is hoped the committee will recommend the matter be referred to the City Auditor for investigation. The Audit Committee does not have the authority to engage the City Auditor. So that recommendation must go to council for its approval/ratification before the matter can be sent to the City Auditor. That will happen at the December meeting of Council (2nd or 3rd). WOW !! Things just move at lightening fast speed at City Hall !
