BURLINGTON, ON

CITY HALL CobaltIt appears that we have another one of those left hand not talking to the right hand situations.

The province announced the third Stay at Home order and said it was in place for four weeks.

So we all buckle down and make the best of a tough situation

Late yesterday the city of Burlington put out a notice saying:

Beginning Thursday, April 8 at 12:01 a.m. a province-wide declaration of emergency and a stay-at-home order are in effect to help control the spread of COVID-19. This will be in place for all regions of Ontario, including Halton Region, until further notice.

And just what does “until further notice” mean?

The communications people at city hall just have to do a better job than this.

Agree, a poor choice of words. A four week stay-at-home order is bad enough, but did suggest that it would come to an end. Not so with “until further notice.” Burlington’s “communications” staff just aren’t communicating.

Given the rambling and uncoordinated messages coming from the Province, it’s amazing that the city do as well as they do.

Well perhaps they know something that we don’t? I’m sure they know a great deal more than either our Premier or our Prime Minister. The whole pandemic response thus far, at all levels of government, has sadly been a case of politics turning a deaf ear to science. “We’re all in this together”?! Hardly. It’s every man for himself until the last lifeboat leaves. And all the politicians will be on it.
