BURLINGTON, ON

The numbers continue to rise.

And yet there are those who still will not heed the Stay at Home rule.

They put the rest of us in personal danger.

The numbers world-wide are beyond staggering – and they are still, for the most part, climbing. China seems to have gotten a grip on the growth of the disease. Problem with data from China is that many people just don’t trust their numbers.

I just read that Burlington has 4 new cases, bringing the known total to 9 as of today.

Three are close contact and one is unknown. These 4 cases have been walking around infecting others for a while, contributing to forward transmission chains.

These cases do not represent the true picture as many more than the symptomatic identified cases are out there wandering around spreading the virus unless they are staying home and isolating.

The new cases indicate that this is not happening enough, and so we will see more new ones. Each one infects more than 2 more.

We don’t know where we are on the curve, but unless we have 14 days of no new cases we are not flattening it.

Did folks not hear all the warnings for the last months? Unbelievably, some decided to fly out for Easter break trips and some of them brought home this disease that we will see sooner or later, even with self-isolation mandates just coming into force.

I am listening and reading every day to factual things some people it seems don’t want to read/hear, so they will understand how deadly this virus is if we don’t cut off the transmission chains by obeying the intervention rules.

If they don’t think serious outbreaks that we hear about on the news every day can happen here then they are not paying attention. Don’t they think of all the front-liner nurses and doctors that are being sickened and dying?

What we can get for this willful ignorance is spreading virus, more sickness, death, and total ongoing disruption of living and economy.

I don’t want to hear people complaining publicly when the time stretches out and this disruption carries on ever longer because some won’t behave..

There is no lack of grim COVID-19 statistics from various levels of government to justify implementing the current “scorched earth” plan to our economy. Unfortunately, there is no plan (or forecast of when) to restart the economy and reestablish some sort of societal normalcy. For many, it could seem hopeless!
