BURLINGTON, ON

ECoB is once again serving the people of Burlington with an innovative approach to keeping people informed on what the different federal election candidates have to say as they strive to get elected or re-elected.

ECoB debate at Baptist on New

ECoB filled church halls during the municipal election. This time they are going digital.

ECoB, the Engaged Citizens of Burlington who sponsored candidate debates in every ward of the city during the last municipal election. In a number of instances you couldn’t get a seat to hear the candidates,

This time ECoB is going to interview candidates and publish the interview on their Facebook page. They are working with the Gazette who will post the interviews which will allow viewers to watch them at their leisure.
More on this as details and specifics become available.

ECoB does report that the Liberal, NDP and Green Party candidates have agreed to take part. The interviews will take place early in October.

ECoB invited all local candidates to participate in our Question & Answer Interview. Those candidates who accepted our invitation to reach out to the residents will be interviewed shortly.

We will keep residents informed as to when they can access You Tube to learn more about the candidates and the issues they would like answers to.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone involved in making this happen.

Where is the Conservative candidate? Debates are so important for the public to hear the Party’s platform. An open question and answer session is very important. Any candidate can research prepared questions. Let’s hear how they answe questions from the audience.

Odd that the Burlington Conservatives are not mentioned or are they late to the party?

Thank you ECoB, Burlington Green and NUVO Network for providing this essential service to the citizens of Burlington. I hope that in the case of the live debate, that a debate it will actually be with an effective moderator, and the opportunity of the candidates to really engage each other. Also, questions from the floor add real tension and spice.

Minor point of clarification. ECoB is making the videos available on YouTube. We’ll be encouraging any/all local media to share/embed and make the videos available as widely as possible so Burlington residents can see their candidates in action and their views on key policy areas.

    David,

Burlington Green is having a public debate and in the past the Federation of Canadian Women did so as well.

ECoB realizes that for some it is difficult to be available at a certain time and day to hear the platforms of the local candidates running in Burlington.

We chose this avenue to make certain that every resident in Burlington would have the opportunity to see and hear their local candidates.

Residents will have the choice to decide what works best for them.

I agree with David Barker be great of ECoB could arrange a debate in each of 2 Burlington ridings as they did for municipal election. I especially like the Q & A idea. Perhaps Mark Carr could moderate again

It would be even better if there was to be a public debate with an open Q&A period at the end

Hi David, I believe Burlington Green are having a debate on October 3rd. I’m guessing that the Chamber of Commerce will also hold a debate. Both debates will be open to the public.
