Karina Gould - House Leader in Ottawa - mother of two in Burlington

BURLINGTON, ON

She isn’t just the MP for Burlington; she isn’t just the Mother of two children – she is the Government House leader in the House of Commons – a role that is critical to the operation of a government on a day to day basis.

Karina Gould speaking to the thousands that took part in the Terry Fox Run for Cancer Research. Days later she sits in the House of Commons helping to keep a government alive.

It calls for a quick mind, a deft touch and an understanding of what can and can’t be achieved.

Karina Gould sits to the left of the Prime Minister – where she advises minute by minute. It’s a tough job.

The men and woman in the House of Commons are handling the strongest force there is in a democratic society – power.

Karina Gould’s job is to work with the leadership of the other political parties in the House of Commons and find the solutions they can all accept.

In times as trying as these  – that is not easy.

There are many in Burlington that would rather see someone else representing the city in Ottawa.  There are many that would like an election to be called and have an opportunity to get rid of Karina Gould.

Understand the role she is currently playing.  Few do it well.  So far Gould is doing her job quite well.  Be proud of what you MP is doing.  It is far more important than most people realize.

Should the government prevail in the next election – it will be interesting to see what she is asked to take on next.

Don’t be surprised if she is made the Deputy Prime Minister at some point in the future.

What she seems to be doing (well?) is practicing to be an opposition party MP. Based on the results of recent by-elections, polling and much of the sentiment around Burlington, she can practice all she wants but likely won’t get the job (of opposition MP).

So her job is to work with the leaders all of the parties yet she besmirches the leader of the Conservative Party in every speech?
Just the other day she made a speech about how the Liberals govern for the will of the people, not like Mr. Poll I ever. If that were the case she wouldn’t be berating the opposition but would be leading her own party to the polls which is what the majority wants and would be publicly telling her leader to resign which is what her constituents want (which is whom she was elected to support btw) and the vast majority of voters Canada wide want

Too bad that she is not responding to her own constituents.!
Three phone calls later and still no call from our MP
We are the ones who elect her and our concerns need her attention

We would lose a great representative for Burlington. Karina is smart, caring and has great personal integrity….hope she will not be replaced.

Carol, I totally agree with all the adjectives you used to describe Karina Gould. I would add that her position on the political spectrum is moderate and she does make herself available to constituents, unlike those representing both Provincial & Federal Conservative parties.

That’s a silly comment. I was just enunciating my experience as to my dealings with Karina Gould and her staff, and how I see her carrying herself in the public eye. My experience has been very positive, which I guess is contrary to some others here. But that’s OK. Everyone has their own experience.
