One would be hard pressed to disagree with any of the choices. Every one of them has made a difference to what Burlington is today.
I am glad to see the Honorable Karina Gould chose to share the names of the 35 people who either made a significant contribution to our community (two of whom I am aware of and who deserve the recognition) or who made an outstanding achievement that brought credit to Canada.
Congratulations to everyone so honoured. Burlington has been better for your efforts. I would have liked to have seen Jonathan Evel Smith, Curator Emeritus of the Burlington Art Gallery as one of the recipients – also Don Smith of Smith Funeral Homes. Both are members of families of long residency with the City and both have a history of significant contribution.
I am still surprised by the fact that Mayor Meed Ward, who apparently was a deserving recipient of the medal for her fight against toxicity in the political workplace, is not on Karina Gould’s list but on Pam Damoff’s. Perhaps Karina’s workplace is not as ‘toxic’ as Pam’s – interesting since they are both the same place. Perhaps Marianne and Pam have a longer game in play and the medal is just an initial foray.
What exactly did each person do to rate this?
Editor’s note: I seen at least 20 people who have served as volunteers and made the city a better place – the place that you live in.
