A couple of Quick Questions

BURLINGTON, ON

?????

Using the well worn Angelo Bentivegna phrase – Couple of quick questions.

Sound of Music – an event that puts the city front and centre – plagued by internal conflicts and conflicted management in the past.

Do we know what the Sound of Music attendance was this year?  Has the loan given by the City been repaid?   And is the link between the Sound of Music and the Performing Arts Centre still in place – and has the next Executive Director of the Performing Arts Centre choice close to being determined?

Wondering when the federal government will take strong action against the organizations that colluded to fix the price of bread in supermarkets.

And – what about that price of bread investigation that is taking place – any word on that one?   It’s not just bread that had the price manipulated – bagels were included.  Expensive legal talent is working behind the scenes to get the best deal possible for the corporate culprits – which is more than you got when you were buying the bread.

And finally – where is the team that is putting together the final version of what Civic Square is going to look like.  The plan was to have it open for September of 2026, a month before the municipal election.  Can you imagine the photo op for that one.

Staff are now working on the details – getting to the points where tenders will be put out.

You are NOT alone! Many Burlington residents feel the same way and many of us feel things are not going to well with the huge increase in infrastructure needs as the mega building are populated. Unfortunately money talks louder than the people of Burlington.

AND a few more municipal questions:
What happened to the Short Term Accommodation Bylaw (Bed and Breakfast; VRBO, Airbnb) that was to be put in place by May 1st, 2020?
As Corporations are taking over older South Burlington lots AND Building Big above ground and below ground Iceberg “structures” where is our City Council in supporting current citizens livability.
So the O.L.T. has City Council concerned yet for those of us who have continued to advocate for a new normal, should Council be running scared or actually coming out to talk with neighbours. I haven’t heard anything from my Councillor who I supported during her Integrity Investigation challenging year. How much did that and other Integrity Commissioners cost taxpayers?
What happened to the 10 year long New Zoning Review that began in 2014? Where is the Draft or work from the last 10 years? Now there is a New Zoning Bylaw Review. I feel hopeful, do you?
What happened infrastructurally for streets that have flooded in 2014 and again in 2014? Nobody came to look and support many neighbours I know who flooded not due to their fault or due to back flow valves but due to Big Builds with Iceberg underground builds that are now taking up scary yard percentages?
Just wondering and feeling alone as one who has tried to help others.
