BURLINGTON, ON
Anyone watching TV via their computer can’t have missed all those advertisement from Amazon about their Prime Days event coming up.
Push a product or sales event that much and you can bet that the scammers out there would latch on to it – and sure enough they did – so much so that Amazon is now putting out information on ways to protect yourself.
These are unexpected emails, calls, and texts from impersonators that often refer to an unauthorized charge for membership or notice of membership expiration. They ask you to verify your account by providing personal or payment information.
What to watch out for?
Scammers might send fake email attachments or say you are being charged a costly fee.
How can you avoid being scammed?
Visit the Message Centre on Amazon.ca or on our app to review authentic emails from Amazon. To verify your Prime membership status, authorize payments, or make changes to your billing and account information, log into your Amazon account, and go to Your Account. Customer Service is available 24/7 to help with any questions you may have.
