BURLINGTON, ON
Here is the final Elections Canada list of candidates for the two Burlington seats.
Burlington
- BATOR, Michael (People’s Party – PPC)
- BEAUCHEMIN, Michael (NDP-New Democratic Party)
- BROWN, Emily (Conservative)
- GOULD, Karina (Liberal)
- HARPER, Paul (Parti Rhinocéros Party)
- HUTTON, Kyle (Green Party)
- MARSHALL, Ocean (Libertarian)
Some observations:
Hutton and Beauchemin both ran as candidates for seats in the provincial legislature; they appear to be people looking for a full-time job with a great pension.
Nice to see that the Parti Rhinocéros Party still has some life left in it.
The battle in Burlington is between Liberal Gould and Conservative Brown
Here is the final Elections Canada list of candidates for Burlington North – Milton West Burlington North—Milton West
Burlington North – Milton West
- AHMED, Naveed (NDP-New Democratic Party)
- AKBAR, Nadeem (Conservative)
- VAN KOEVERDEN, Adam (Liberal)
- ZACH, Charles (People’s Party – PPC)
Some observations: You can bet the farm on VAN KOEVERDEN. When you get Mayor Krantz, a Conservative when he was still in hos Mothers’ womb, doing a photot op with Van Koeverden you know the seat with go Liberal.

Vote early at any Elections Canada office

The April 28th federal election is the most important since Brian Mulroney and John Turner were the candidates. Think hard about the direction you want your country to go in. It is THAT important.
There are around 500 Elections Canada offices open across the country. Vote at any one of them by April 22, 6 p.m.
You will vote using the special ballot process.
Our offices are open seven days a week:
- Monday to Friday: 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
- Saturday: 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Sunday: noon to 4 p.m.

Elections Offices open to cast your vote but for those of us who go to vote on a street model mobility scooter due to a life time physical disability they are not always accessible. It is the reporting officer’s job to ensure they are. In the case of the Burlington Brant Street elections office on the corner of Brant and Ghent we believe that person is W. Brodie.
Went to vote Saturday and used the Ghent Ave. Mall identified entrance. good job Dave decided to vote the same time as Anne he had to,open the outer door and the next door before we were in the Mall. On my own I would have been trapped. There was access to the elections office through a button but once inside it was impossible for Anne to gain entry to the room where you cast your ballot even after removing six chairs lined up outside this room. Dave was told to leave Anne in the outer room and someone would bring the voting materials out to her. After being able to vote outside the norm we decided to use one of the two Brant Street Street Exits to get out of the BUilding neither had push buttons and again Anne would have been unable to exit without assistance.
Last federal election we voted in the elections office without a hitch, it was located in the same area as the Court office. Two previous federal elections we filed complaints and won our case with access made through a portable ramp allowing access to Central’s door to the gym rather than Anne having to go through a back door to the gym where votes were cast. Upper Canada Place where the Elections Office used to be finally had a ramp put in place on the Brant Street entrance so the Elections Office and the MPPs office Cam Jackson’s,was accessible.
After fighting tooth and nail to have appropriate access to vote ahead of time at the elections office or on voting day, it was indeed a feeling of victory when we voted without a single obstacle in Anne’s way in the last Federal election.
Our belief that pit bull tenacity advocacy for lawful access to cast our federal votes works was, however, again shattered on Saturday. The access to the main building the Elections Officer chose was easily avoidable by following a simple check list of the main building entrance. The inability to access the room where you vote was a common sense decision that the Election Office should have ensured in terms of unassisted access to the ballot box.
Obviously it is too late to fix this, but whoever gets elected will be getting an earful after the election on how the current reporting officer screwed up and the MP should personally guarantee inspection of the next Election Office. Further they will ensure the 2025 Burlington Reporting Officer responsible is appropriately dealt with. This could well have been our last opportunity to see our Reporting Officer fulfill their accessibility responsibilities and our pit bull tenacity advocacy for appropriate access to every choice offered to vote pay off. Unbelievable.
Readers response: Megan Beauchemin NDP ran in the Ontario provincial election while Michael Beauchemin NDP is running in the federal election. Sources: Elections Canada and Ontario
Michael Beauchemin is the partner of the provincial candidate from earlier this year, and not the same person. You may want to correct that. Michael ran previously for school trustee in 2022.
Also, speaking for myself – I have a full time job with a pension already. I’m running because I find the other options lacking and think we can do better. Hope to see you at the debate, Pepper.
You have wrongly assumed that NDP candidate Michael Beauchemin also ran in the provincial election. Michael’s partner Megan ran in the recent provincial election.
Sloppy reporting!
And why do you disparage the motives of the NDP and Green candidates as seeking a lucrative job with a good pension? It is obvious to me that both Kyle Hutton and Michael Beauchemin are motivated to run because they believe in the good goals of their smaller but more idealistic parties.
