BURLINGTON, ON
We are beginning to see just how tough Prime Minister designate Mark Carney is going to be.
When he is sworn in on Friday we will get a look at his Cabinet: it will be much smaller than the 37 member Cabinet Justin Trudeau had.
The word at this point is that it will be between 15 and 20 people – assuming 20 that means 17 people will no longer be Cabinet Ministers. That also means their staff will be out of work as well. Cabinet members have up to ten people on their staff
How many of those without jobs come Saturday morning worked hard to have Mark Carney made the leader?
Going to be a tough weekend for those now on the outside.
What does this have to say about Carney – this guy is going to be tough, He knows exactly what the country is up against and is going to do his level best to ensure that the economy and the social values Canadians have enjoyed for decades is kept as stable as possible during what are truly perilous times.
It will be interesting to see how the first meeting between Carney as Prime Minister and President Trump works out. Trump tends to read people quite well. He will have been briefed on Carney and his background.
It is going to be an interesting couple of months.

The size of this cabinet is irrelevant. The house has not sat for almost 100 days. They can’t prepare bills, pass bills or spend new money. The Liberals have fueled the Orange Man’s agenda to the south an attempt to hold power and the status quo. The consumer carbon tax has been temporarily suspended in favour of new tax revenue from the new tax, damaging counter tariffs. Enjoy the increase in your cost of living.
A better first action would have been to drop tariffs on Chinese EVs to try to remove serious tariffs amounting to $7:billion on our agricultural products. No politicians or the media want to discuss this. Sad.
what happened to Karina?
even Patty Hajdu made top 20.
Karina was or will be left out. Guessing the $350k gambit didn’t pay off.
Have to wonder why Karina Gould was not included in Carney’s cabinet?
Perhaps he felt that the public would see her as being too much of a Trudeau follower.
Chrystia Freeland was rewarded, in my opinion, as she was the linchpin that brought down Justin Trudeau.
Politics is a dirty, nasty game that has nothing to do with the running of the country and doing what’s best for its citizens.
Thank goodness that Trudeau’s childhood buddy who created most our problems in Housing, healthcare and education has been fired.
Guilbealt the idiot who has discouraged investment in many key businesses with his over the top policies in Environment is being neutralized.Should be fired.
Firing Guilbeault is all about political optics as Carney tries to fool people into believing that he really is getting rid of carbon taxes. A smoke and mirrors ploy to appear less radical. . Carney is a climate net-zero zealot, reappointing the eco-zealot, Guilbeault, as Environment Minister if Carney fools Canadians into giving him a mandate is almost a given. Guilbeault would not have supported Carney for Liberal leader without some assurances.
