Burlington child amputees meet other kids “just like me” –Nine-year-old Edison Shepalo and Nathaniel Dionisi, 5, both of Burlington, have just returned from The War Amps 2024 Child Amputee (CHAMP) Seminar, where they joined more than 100 young amputees and their families from across the country.

Nathaniel, a right arm amputee, and Edison, born without part of his left hand, are eligible to receive financial assistance for artificial limbs and adaptive devices, as well as invaluable peer support through the program.

The seminar provided an opportunity for Champs and their parents to connect with one another, access valuable resources and share advice. For Nathaniel and Edison, it was also a time to meet and play with other kids “just like me.”

The War Amps does not receive government grants and its programs are funded thanks to public support of the Key Tag Service.
