Canada Post: 'We are current with our parcel deliveries in Burlington'

BURLINGTON, ON

A reliable source advised us earlier this week that delivery drivers for Canada Post in Burlington have pulled their trucks off the road in protest.

Delivery drivers pick up and deliver parcels in Burlington on a contract basis for Canada Post.

Those drivers were recently told their contract would cease in August.

Canada Post has brought the negotiations forward and has brought the service in house.

There was the potential for a huge impact for people in Burlington; the contract has been revised and the service problems are resolved.

Canada Post advises that: “We put a contingency plan in place and are current with our parcel deliveries in Burlington”.

Getting rid of CUS, who have been with us for decades is inexcusable. They have provided great reliable and efficient service to Burlington for as long as I have worked there. This is what happens when faceless bureaucrats make decisions that they don’t have to be accountable for. This move will degrade Canada Post financially in a time when they are already under significant financial pressure, but even worse, they are taking away reliable workers who put in long days to service the needs of our business and residential clients.

  • Canada Post is already under servicing. We have friends and family in England. Not only do they get Saturday deliveries to their homes, anything we send is in their hands 4 days later. It takes us longer to get mail from TO and much longer to receive UK mail. We have a great mail woman, couldn’t have better so why the service issues and why do they have to get worse not better. .

Canada Post reducing resident’s deliveries – from DAILY, to just ONCE a week – would create HUGE cost savings.
Weekly – Same as blue bin pickup.
Priority / Registered mail can be delivered rush at a premium.

Thanks Alan. So “the service problems are resolved” by cutting the service to once a week instead of daily! Now that’s great service! And a great resolution! We’re so lucky to have great minds at Canada Post.
