BURLINGTON, ON

Prime Minister Mark Carney convened the federal government’s Incident Response Group to coordinate wildfire response efforts with ministers and senior officials.

There are dozens of “out of control” wildfires across Canada, particularly in Ontario, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta and British Columbia, according to an active fire map from the Government of Canada.

Thousands of residents have been evacuated from Manitoba .

Toronto and surrounding areas had some of the worst air quality on the planet Friday as smoke from the wildfires in Manitoba and Saskatchewan blew into southern Ontario. The city peaked at 10+ on the local air quality health index on Friday, which means residents were at a “very high risk,” according to Environment Canada.

Ontario had put in a request for federal assistance to deal with the rapidly spreading fires.

What is the source of the picture here… something wrong with the scale… those flames seem to be miles high. Is it an AI fantasy?

    Editor’s note:
The picture was provided by the federal government in their media release. We agree – it looks as if it has been manipulated.
