Sorry but having gone through the parts of the Act and the unproclaimed amendments the government is now ready to proclaim. Not much will change with respect to Owners. S46,(4), 3 allows an owner to raise an issue based on this wording “ Any other purpose for which this Act or the regulations permit….” In other words get a lawyer. The big change though is expanding the CAT’s jurisdiction which could be a good thing.
In my experience if you dont like whats happening in your condo it may be time to get off your butt and run for the board of directors.
I hope this works. Years ago, I and many others participated in a similar public project to improve on the Ontario Municipal Board (yes, the OMB) including addressing the damage being done by overriding municipalities, ignoring local needs, vested interests, etc. Things looked positive until — they suddenly paused, then evolved in various ways, became the LPAT, then the OLT, but time and again nothing really changed. In other areas, we saw health services repeatedly reorganized into various forms of regional oversight bodies led by well-paid bureaucrats, but still the same old same old. Energy management has been reshuffled to no good result. Education is still a mess. Maybe there is some mysterious force that transcends politics (we certainly know what that is when land use is involved, but ….??)
