BURLINGTON, ON
From February 3 – 28 Halton Food for Thought will be holding its seventh annual FEEDUARY campaign to shine a light on the importance of Student Nutrition Programs across Halton region. The campaign will include visits at 13 Halton schools welcoming guests from the community who will get to see the important role these programs play in a student’s day firsthand.
“FEEDUARY is an important campaign for us, it allows us to give community members the opportunity to see the impact of our programs firsthand,” stated Aliya Khawari, Halton Food for Thought Executive Director. “Helping to prepare nutritious meals for students and being there to see them enjoy the food creates a feeling that is unmatched. These programs create a great sense of community and welcoming guests to these schools allows them to be a part of it too.”
In addition to the in-person visits, Halton Food for Thought will be spotlighting some of these programs to help share the story of our program impacts and recognize those who help us run programs at our 152 partner schools.
Halton Food for Thought has been feeding Halton students for almost three decades. It was started by a grassroots group of parents who noticed that not every child at school had food in their lunch box or that many kids had food that didn’t contain enough nutrients to fuel their minds and bodies for learning. Today, Halton Food for Thought has partner programs in 152 Halton schools, providing approximately 95,000 Halton students access to nutritious food at school – reaching 93% of Halton students. Our programs are facilitated by over 1,600 volunteers who work with Halton Food for Thought staff and partner schools to feed students in their communities.

What percentage of the 95000 kids do not have a parent who can provide a nuitritious meal in their lunch box?
