Long line ups reported at Burlington Centre Advanced Poll

BURLINGTON, ON

We are getting word that there are line ups at the Burlington Centre where people are voting in the advanced poll.

Despite the fact there isn’t any signage when you arrive at the doors showing this is a polling station the place is reported to be “packed”.

“Big lineup in the hallway.  Mostly seniors.”

A good sign maybe?

Received my card yesterday and voted at Masonry Crt, I was the only one there, but they told me that they had been busy during the day.

I voted yesterday at the Burlington Mall.Long line but it continued to move and I was out in 13 minutes. Not all seniors either ! I guess about 25% seniors.

This is a good sign. Citizens are possibly tuning into the increasing media news that PC candidates are not showing up for debates and lining up to express their displeasure by voting strategically to un-elect PC MPPs. We can only hope.

The PC Party under Doug Ford is unrecognizable to older supporters who once held it in esteem for its management of Ontario during the days of John Robarts and Bill Davis.

My wife and I voted this morning in Mountainside. I was told they had about 1500 show up yesterday at the Burlington Centre polls and 500 at the Mountainside polls. I hope this trend continues through to the 27th. Finally engaged citizens again?

We got our voting cards yesterday and headed to the Legion where we were straight in and out. straight in and out.

    Editor’s note: Voting cards?

I was told this morning that only about 3 voters out of the 500 yesterday at the Mountainside polls had voter cards. Very poor handling of the voter cards getting out to voters. Not sure where the blame lays. Luckily, the polling staff have good records in front of them to verify voters as long as they have proper ID.

Editor Voting cards come in the mail and have all your info on such as address and where you vote. They are collected at the polling station.

Editor’s note: We are getting reports from people who did not get anything in the mail – a couple of dozen.

Just a reminder to the Gazette that there are two ridings in Burlington. Maybe I missed it but I haven’t seen any mention of North Burlington and the candidates trying to get elected in my riding.
