BURLINGTON, ON

Registration for all the swimming clubs in Ontario that are members of Swim Ontario, the provincial governing body of competitive swimming, closed at midnight on Friday.

The clubs now know what their registration numbers are as well as those of every other club.

The information hasn’t been made public yet.  Difficult to get information from Swim Ontario.

Cody Bradt speaks at a Council meeting representing GHAC

There is some movement taking place around the need for an independent audit of the process that took place that led to the decision to award the RFP to Golden Horseshoe Aquatic Club (GHAC)

City Council meets on Wednesday – a motion from a Council member could appear at that meeting.

Not much more at this point.

The Gazette is working on interviewing Cody Brandt, the person who represented GHAC  at the public meetings.

Soooooo, when will we learn if GMAC has enough people from Burlington? I assume this was swept under the rug once the city gave the Devilrays a couple hours at the YMAC? Did Grey help the councillors kid move in or did he send the MAC Swim team to help?

GHAC has been given the keys to the kingdom and are being assisted at every turn by the city of Burlington. I am sure the numbers it will all work out in their favour as the deal that was cut absolves the city of a wrongdoing and also allows GHAC to do “whatever they want”. They won’t be held to the residency requirements nor will they have the pool time taken away. I hope that as part of the deal that the team member in procurement cut with GHAC includes residents and a food plan for their son or daughter at MAC.

The information in this article, as I understand it, is incorrect. I do not fault the publisher – information from a credible source should be trusted. But registrations are not closed, did not close on Friday and, in several instances, have not even begun.

If the information contained in the article comes from the executive of BAD then, perhaps, we can understand why the club is in such a sorry state today. I am not absolving the City from the mess that they created nor the truly arrogant way in which they attempted to resolve it. But BAD, from both my observation and personal experience, does not have the basic business acumen it needs at its top. It will not last much longer.
