Special Meeting of Council
Civic Recogniton Ceremony – The city will recognize the following people and or groups. Why these ones? The Mayor will explain when she calls the meeting to order.
Lisa Kearns brought a motion at the Committee of the Whole meeting held on October 7th to change all council meetings from a morning start of 9:30 a m. to
a evening start beginning at 6:30 p.m., so that more residents could attend and engage with city council. The motion failed
Mayor Meed Ward, Kelvin Galbraith, Rory Nisan, Paul Sharman and Angelo Bentivegna all voted to maintain the 9:30 a.m. start for all City Council meetings. Councilor Shawna Stolte was absent.
Mayor Meed Ward said “taking time off work for democracy is just as important as medical appointments”.
Interesting that all of these council members and Mayor Meed Ward will be in attendance at a “Special Meeting of Council” to be held in the evening on October 29, 2024 at 6:30 p.m. for a Civic Recognition Ceremony.
More photo ops to come!!
