BURLINGTON, ON

A contract to:

The Contract is for street lighting night patrol service throughout the City of Burlington to travel all streets after dark to identify, record and report non-operational or malfunctioning street lights.

One bright reader suggested asking resident to send a note to city hall saying a street light was no longer working.

Only in Burlington?  Unfortunately not – municipalities do things like this all the time.

Major clean up of municipality operations badly needed – won’t happen this decade and probably not the next.

When tax payers start choking on their tax bills – maybe.

When I see a light out, I report it. I guess Caren and I are the only ones. More wasted tax dollars rationalized as either a “safety” or “green” justification. I recommend the city hires another consultant to analyze the evaluate the effectiveness of this contract.

Generally, Burlington street lights are far to dim, to properly light needed areas, and many, many are too overgrown, with greenery, (in season) which further cuts down on their effectiveness.

When street lights have gone out in my neighbourhood, I contact the City and they replace them. Why does the City of Burlington need to hire anyone and spend additional money for this??
City of Burlington should post a request on all of their multiple Social Media outlets for residents to Report burnt out lights to the City, this will safe tax payers money!! (this should also include reporting potholes and dangerous uneven or broken sidewalks which could cause a tripping hazard).
COB obviously has too much time and too many tax dollars to throw around at the taxpayers expense!

I wish it was hard to believe!
