BURLINGTON, ON
There is some movement on the swimming pool front.
A Zoom call will take place tomorrow with two people from Burlington Aquatic Devilrays (BAD) on one end and city officials on the other.
On the same day, the BAD folks will open up registration for the 2025-26 season.
Let’s see if the city has figured out how to do the right thing.

This is what it is about – swimming, not two clubs battling it out over the use of city swimming pools.

like I said …. “fun to watch”.
to those who disagree with my comments or suggestions, that’s fair and for sure your opinions are valid and welcome.
But to be clear, I don’t have a dog in the fight over pool access or which group gets what time.
My comments continue to be directed at the City’s broken process — the mishandling of the RFP, the lack of clear communication, and the broader pattern of inefficiency and zero accountability at City Hall.
Everyone should be appalled by the performance of this municipal government … on so many levels.
This is about governance, not swimming lanes.
The people of Burlington paid for the construction of the pools, cover the cost of maintenance and operation. Therefore they should be in first place when it comes to who has usage. If there is unused space, and only then, should that space be offered to to others.
Jim,
I agree 100%. This dittos my ealier comment on this dispute.
I totally agree as a Burlington resident. GHAC has multiple pools in Stoney Creek, Dundas and Hamilton and they don’t even meet the 75 percent Burlington resident criteria as their residents are from all of those municipalities combined.
Personally, I think that the City should honour its contract with GHAC.
I am certain that other organizations that rent space from the city are from other cities, not just Burlington. Haven’t heard of any other group who did not get rental space running to Council to complain.
BAD has had 5 years of city pool time and I find it interesting that they were not prepared to meet with GHAC before both swim clubs submitting their request for pool time.
This has cost too much in council time and taxpayer dollars. Hopefully this proposed zoom call will finally end this.
