BURLINGTON, ON

Aldershot High School students Steve Tolton and Keerthana Srinivasan  have been named the national winners of Samsung Canada’s Solve for Tomorrow contest – beating out finalists from across the country.

The grade 12 student’s groundbreaking work using quantum Monte Carlo methods to better detect faults in solar energy farms impressed a panel of expert judges and earned Aldershot High School the top prize: $50,000 in Samsung technology to advance STEM learning. This win also brings the prestigious School for Tomorrow title to the Burlington community – a recognition of innovation and leadership in education.

In total, Samsung awarded $125,000 to 12 finalist schools across Canada, but it was Steve and Keerthana’s forward-thinking project that took the top honour.
