What ever happened to the discussions on the swimming RFP?
I’d change how the local government and workers are hired, not just the RFP but the whole thing, I think the local representatives are all out of touch.

    Editor’s note:

That comes back at a meeting in March – 2026

Just a note to the Editor’s Note – that’s fully 1 year after the results of the Swimming RFP were known but not communicated by COB. This is truly an administration that falls short of every performance marker that is measurable and relevant.

Oh, let’s start small and grow from there.

I believe that the forms and processes of oversight and stewardship are like the muscles of the human body. Unless exercised regularly and well, they tend to atrophy and die. I would like to see Burlington’s City Council flex its muscles a wee bit and request that our local hospital provide a report on its operations over the past year and its directions for the next 12 months. If I remember correctly, and I do, this annual reporting by the Joseph Brant CEO before Council was the ‘quid pro quo’ for removing municipal councillors from the hospital’s governing Board. Now, I suspect that Mr. Vandewall, entering into his seventeenth year as Jo Brant President and Chief Health Supremo, may measure time somewhat differently than the rest of us. Still, let’s shake the dust off the mantle of prolonged office and give us a glimpse of what lies ahead. Overdue and a good start to the New Year.
