BURLINGTON, ON
When the big guys build – they build big.
Alinea Land is holding a Preconsultation meeting in June to get a sense as to what the community thinks about a proposed development that is said to consist of 28 high-density residential and mixed use commercial buildings ranging from 12 to 45 stories tall with a housing capacity upwards of 25,000 new residents
This is an utterly stupid development on so many levels. Not only is it the wrong type of housing but the scope and magnitude is extreme. 25,000 residents crammed into this space is absurd.
The other issue that needs to be addressed is waste and storm water management. Ten years ago we experienced the worst flood in Burlington’s history. Sewers and creeks were overflowing. 3,000 + homes in east Burlington were impacted. The massive increase in density will exacerbate this potential for over land and sewer flooding. Or maybe the developers think that, like former Reform Leader Stockwell Day, water flows uphill.
The meeting is at 4PM so many are working.
Editor’s note: It STARTS at 4 and runs through to 7.

Alinea Land Corporation (Paletta) is hosting an in-person Pre-Application Community Meeting to discuss a proposal to redevelop three properties totaling 51 acres on the north and south side of Fairview Street, west of Appleby Line.
The proposed development consists of 28 high-density residential and mixed use commercial buildings ranging from 12 to 45 stories tall with a housing capacity upwards of 25,000 new residents.
No application has been submitted to the City as of yet, nor has this proposal come before Council for any decision. The purpose of a Pre-Application Community meeting is to give the residents in the neighbourhood the opportunity to give feedback on the proposed development before an application is submitted.
The meeting will follow and Open-House format, featuring informational stations with poster boards. Members of the developer team will be present to discuss elements of the development and gather community feedback. City staff will be in attendance, as well as myself, to observe and respond to queries regarding City process.
Following the event, additional comments, questions, and feed back pertaining to the proposed development can be directed to wayne@korsiak.com or 905-257-0227 ext 23.
Can someone please share the date of the meeting? I really want to give them an opinion.

Goodbye to “The Town I loved So Well”
Reminds me of an Irish song “The Town I Loved so Well”.
