BURLINGTON, ON

It looked like a reasonable plan when they put it together – but something slipped – the opening of the transformed Joseph Brant Museum will be sometime in September and not the as planned July date.

The structure on the top of the mound of earth is a replica of the house that Joseph Brant built. It will not be open to the public. The museum will be beneath the mound of earth.

Ward 2 Councillor Lisa Kearns said she has toured the structure – thinks it is going to be great and while she will miss the Annual Strawberry social that is put on by the museum people on Canada Day she can wait – the transformed Museum is going to be great.

The Strawberry Social was an annual event celebrated on Canada on the grounds of the Museum. Those grounds are a construction site. If the four people serving ice cream and strawberries three were politicians; two of the three were not returned to office in the last elections.

Museums Burlington didn’t have any notice on their web site of the delay – but they do have a job posting for someone to take care of the place once it is open – that’s a good sign – isn’t it?

We’re hiring two Facility Operators to maintain Joseph Brant Museum and Ireland House Museum. The application deadline is June 21.
