Burlington MP Karina Gould fast tracking legislation that will result in a two month GST tax holiday

What will Burlington MP Karina Gould be doing this week?

Burlington MP Karina Gould

Government House Leader Karina Gould has put the legislation that will result in a two-month tax break and a payment of $250.00 on a fast track by preemptively limiting debate to just ten minutes per party — plus an additional five minutes for questions and comments — before putting it to a make-or-break second reading vote, after which — presuming, that is, that it gets the green light to proceed — it would be deemed to have been considered at all stages, read a third time and passed.

It’s worth noting that, while the motion could be called for debate as early as tomorrow, not only would it require the support of at least one other party to succeed, but as it stands, there’s no clear path for it to make it to the floor as long as the months-long standoff over a Conservative-initiated privilege debate is still preempting regular House programming.

If Ms. Gould is so sold on this political stunt. That’s right editor, I agree its a stunt.
Put it to a confidence vote and let the chips fall where they may.

All are political stunts, because a stunt is a stunt because that is what a stunt is. Kind of like a proof. Seniors will be getting zero, sip, nada if phase 2 of the $250.00 cheque stunt passes. If you are a senior, when it time to vote, remember you were left out of the next phase of this particular stunt.

This is a very bad idea for Canadians as it will increase the debt by $6 billion or so that will have to be paid back, with interest, by our children and grandchildren. It’s clearly a stunt as it comes just months before a planned PERMANENT increase in carbon taxes from the same government. The stunt seems to be an attempt to thwart the Conservative opposition’s, and Bloc’s attempt to investigate alleged corruption by the liberal government in administering green energy funds….or what you indicate as a “Conservative initiated privilege debate” to ensure the true nature of the hold on parliamentary proceedings are concealed!
I would hope that Karina Gould would use her powers as an equal member of parliament (who won her seat at the table with more votes, at 31,602 than Trudeau at 22,848) to stick up for Canadians and resist the PM’s worst instincts!

So Karina and the Liberals are so concerned about the cost of living that they are willing to cut the GST for two whole months. Karina, where were YOU when the Conservatives asked your government to pause the carbon tax on home heating and YOU voted against it? Carbon taxes and HST on the carbon tax makes up 27% of my home heating bill!!!

Just think of the good things this money could be used for instead of a stupid political stunt.

Editor’s note: Name some of the things you think the money could be used for? Not sure I would call it a political stunts – did you say the same thing when Premier Ford said he would hand it $200 or when he said you wouldn’t have to pay for tags on your car plates.
