BURLINGTON, ON
The properties in the football – that part of the city that is between Lakeshore Road and Old Lakeshore Road, have been waiting for the right opportunity before putting shovels in the ground.
Using language only a planner would choose the city reports that: The proposed development of the subject lands features a 27 storey mixed-use building with 196 residential units and at-grade retail along Lakeshore Road. The development proposes 1- and 2-bedroom units.

The graphic on the left shows what is planned for the “football” Other than a POP (privately owned public access) there isn’t much in the way of park space.
A 5-level below-grade parking structure is proposed. An application for an Official Plan Amendment and Zoning By-law Amendment will be required to permit the proposed development.
It is the first major development to move in terms of submitting an application that sits on the north side of Old Lakeshore Road.
The developer is Lakeside Developments Limited using the 2083 Old Lakeshore Rd., address.

This four building mistake by the lake has been predicted for years. Once all four high rises are constructed and the the three buildings on the north side of Lakeshore Road between Pearl and Martha Streets (all high rises as well) are completed, then Burlington’s downtown will be the proud owner of the biggest and meanest wind tunnel in Halton. City Council did not include “the football” in its downtown Official Plan review and update, so they left any control of massing and height to the developers and of course the Ontario Land Tribunal who have never seen a wind tunnel that they didn’t like. Woe is us.
“The Mistake By The Lake” is the euphemism for the Jo Brant Hospital – and there can be only one. Thank God!
I thought the official title went to the Brant Street Pier. Two thirds the length for twice the cost. But I’ll acknowledge your claim, Mike. I guess I felt the “football” future mess also qualified for the general term. I think we have so many that do that it is getting confusing, isn’t it?
