Does Mayor Meed Ward think saying her statement about the $15 million offer to buy golf course was inadvertent will get her off the hook?

BURLINGTON, ON

Inadvertent, she claims?

Mayor Meed Ward told Burlington Today that “after the information had been released, it was determined that there was a breach of privilege, and the posts were removed.

Mayor Meed Ward said after the realization that privilege had been broken, she reached out to the Integrity Commissioner.

“I reached out to the integrity commissioner myself to have a conversation about this,” she told BurlingtonToday.

Mayor Marianne Meed Ward: “Inadvertent.”

“I can’t speak to any other process that might be underway with this, but certainly I take all of this very very seriously, and notwithstanding, it was inadvertent.

“We want to make sure that we learn and take whatever steps to make sure that this does not happen.”

Ward 4 Councillor Shawna Stolte has been very quiet on the mess the Mayor has gotten herself into.

Was the information Ward 4 Shawna Stole heard in a CLOSED session of Council and made public shortly after “inadvertent”  That mistake cost Stotle five days’ pay.

The current Integrity Commissioner has been fair in the past.

Let’s see what comes out of this.

As for inadvertent, who is Meed Ward kidding?  She got the information out because she saw it as something to keep her in the news.  And she is certainly in the news on this one.

This falls into the “the dog ate my homework excuse.

I guess Mayor My Way figures Lisa Kearns got away with just an apology during the last civic election.

Difference is that the Integrity Commissioner can’t Investigate during the election period. We never saw an Integrity Commissioner report so I guess no one filed a complaint after the election period.

If it looks like a duck, quacks like a duck and floats like a duck on the Millcroft Pond, then it seems to be a politician (or two).

The double standard is alive and well and lives within the mayor’s office. She is the epitome of ‘do as I say and not as I do’. Does she actually think that saying it often enough makes it true? Residents of Burlington are neither stupid nor naive.

Funny how MMW will attack others but her blatant deceitful cover up is ok
Hopefully she will be voted out in October 2026

I do not believe this was a mistake whatsoever.
This Joint Statement by Mayor Mayor Meed Ward and Angela Bentivegna Ward 6 with a offer to purchase a parcel of the Millcroft Golf Course for $15 Million dollars was strategically announced and posted on all social media accounts by both of them to appease their constituents living in Millcroft for votes in the upcoming Municipal Election in October 2026..

A precedent has already been set with a previous breach of solicitor-client privilege in a confidential matter over the costs of Bateman.
That councilor was reported to the Integrity Commissioner and received a public reprimand from fellow members of council and docked 5 days
    pay as a result.
As a precedent has already been set at the COB Council, both Mayor Meed Ward and Angelo Bentivegna should each be reported to the Integrity Commissioner and docked 5 days pay beginning now and face a public reprimand from their fellow council colleagues in council chambers

If Councillor Stolte lost 5 days pay, shouldn’t the Mayor as well? Does the Mayor think we will all just forget this and the fiasco with development charges come next election?
