Gag order put on the swimming clubs lets the Mayor do all the talking

BURLINGTON, ON

With a gag order in place on the swimming pool allocation matter Mayor Meed Ward gets to occupy the speaking space.

The following was published by the Mayor earlier today.

The question we have is:  How much space was given to the Golden Horseshoe Aquatic Club (GHAC) and how much space was given to the Burlington Aquatic Devilrays (BAD)?

The clubs aren’t saying – because they were told they couldn’t.

Once registration opens for the clubs (on Tuesday for BAD), we will have some idea of which pools they will be using.

Mayor knows she interfered in a procurement process which is political interference . Hence the secrecy ,or at least that is what we perceive with the silence More time has been spent on spin doctors than any other issue
Several emails sent to Mayor and council with dead silence

God you sound like David Barker

Why is there a gag order? No transparency? Wow how draconian

    Super Mayor?
    Certainly not by acclamation.
Super Yapper who stands for no talking back – definitely !

Totally unacceptable, but to be expected.

Perhaps residents have to use the “freedom of information” avenue to get this information.

Burlington residents should not have to file a FOI request for this information.
This information should have been automatically provided to Burlington residents by our Mayor and council.
It’s called engagement, transparency and accountability, all of which our current Mayor and Council have been seriously lacking since they were first elected in October 2018.

    This is appalling!
Another Statement from our Mayor with no answers and no explanation as to what went wrong with City staff and or others during the RFP process for these two Swim Teams.
Residents want and deserve answers from their elected officials at City Hall, so this never happens again!
This can’t just be wished away by another Statement from our Mayor that has no answers for her constituents.
Pepper, I agree with your title, our mayor wants to do all the talking and control the narrative!!
If we don’t get the answers we need soon, we need to push for an Audit.
