BURLINGTON, ON
Some call it a war, some maintain it is the Israelis clearing out the Hamas terrorists, others describe it as a genocide.
It is a tragedy taking place on the other side of the world – something most of us don’t really know all that much about.
What we do recognize is human suffering and that ability we have to overcome the injustice of it all.

If we recognize the human suffering why are we (our governments) so silent in condemning the source of the suffering. What is the source? No one can deny the source of the civilians’ suffering is the brutal, indiscriminate bombing and shelling of Gaza and it’s civilian population by the Israeli Defence Force (what a misnomer) directed by the Israeli Government. Whether Hamas members are hiding amongst the civilians, the killing of civilians is against the Geneva Convention and is surely a war crime. And yet Western governments including Canada (and the Liberal and Conservative parties) do nothing, say nothing. Shameful. Those who speak up calling out the Israeli Government are vilified as anti semitic. No one is condemning the Israeli people or attacking the Jewish people. Netanyahu does not want peace. He is as bellicose as Putin. If there was to be peace with the Palestinian peoples Netanyahu would lose power. Let’s vocally stand up for the Palestinian people just as we rightly stand up for the Ukrainian people.
