Get up and get out and VOTE!

BURLINGTON, ON

Interesting observation.  In Burlington people turn out by the thousands to watch the Remembrance Day parade and take part in the services at the Cenotaph remembering and honouring those that paid the supreme sacrifice to defend the democracy we have – and yet less than 50% of the city’s population take the time to vote.

Those poor buggers, dying on a muddy battlefield, realizing, in their final moments, that they will never see their loved ones again.

We gather in the hundreds on November the 11th to remember them but don’t vote on election day to honour them.

You have one thing that you must do today.

Vote if you have not already voted.

If you are one of the average people in this province – challenged by the economic conditions – this is your opportunity to have a say in the provincial government that will be determined by the end of the day.

It is vital that what  YOU want in the way of a government is made clear by the vote you cast.

Every vote counts.

Ontario has a disappointing voting record.

Make this the year that that changes.

    Lynn,

Totally agree with you that everyone needs to get out and VOTE.

Unfortunately for politicians of all parties there is a need not to have a completely open door policy because of the threats of violence that seem to have become normal in today’s society.

I remember Karina Gould telling us that they now have a locked door to her constituency office with a bell, because of the threats made to her and her staff.

This toxic behaviour has resulted in a few politicians not running for re-election. Pam Damoff comes to mind.

I didn’t know until recently that when a Provincial election is called the incumbent is not allowed to go to their constituency office.

Times have changed in politics and not for the better.

Our MPP-in-hiding still in hiding. I called her office on Monday
Wanted to tell her what I think about her hiding as well as my list of Ford’s colossal blunders and waste of our money. Ironically, the call went to a recording saying they’re busy and to leave a voicemail message.
Then rang a few times and disconnected without attaching me to voicemail.

Just appalling – and no she’s not knocked on the doors of anyone I know – knocking on her supporters’ doors doesn’t actually count, if she’s doing that which I highly doubt.

I also noted when looking up the phone number of her constituency office that her website notes the hours it’s open and says in brackets “by appointment.” So one can’t even walk into our MPPs office and be heard? They need a head’s up on who is coming, thereby deciding if she’s “too busy” or not? What part of public servant do they not get?

A lot of very damaging news is likely coming relating to Ford – cue an early and wasteful election to save his own butt.
