Gould’s performance a 'masterclass in political communications'

BURLINGTON, ON

We Canadians seem to have a problem recognizing talent and ability that is sitting there in front of us.

Karina Gould: A face Canadians might see a lot more of.

During the race to determine who the next leader of the Liberal Party will be, and by default, become the Prime Minister. Karina Gould, Burlington’s MP was given little in the way of attention from media and precious little from many of the people in Burlington.

Praise for Gould’s ‘masterclass.’

“Liberal leadership candidate Karina Gould displayed impressive communications skills during back-to-back debates this week, according to party insiders, but it’s unlikely to affect the race’s overall result.

“Gould squared off with ex-Bank of Canada governor Mark Carney, former cabinet minister Chrystia Freeland, and one-time Liberal MP Frank Baylis in Montreal on Tuesday during the Liberal leadership race’s only English-language debate.

“The four candidates also participated in a French debate on Monday.

“In both cases, Gould, an MP and ex-government House leader, earned rave reviews for her ability to speak directly to Canadians with messaging that resonates with a variety of groups.

“Alex Kohut, a former pollster in Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s office, called Gould’s performance a “masterclass in political communications” in a post on social media, particularly emphasizing her strong post-debate media scrum.”

If Mark Carney does not win on the first count of a ranked ballot and Chrystia Freeland comes in third – Karina Gould could be the choice of members of the Liberal Party.

The real pundits said that she won the debate….sour grapes for you Conservatives for not recognizing the great MP that we have representing our city

The self-congratulatory delusion of all participants for the last 10 years of Liberal accomplishments was hard to reckon with the mess Canada is in right now. No debate to witness, move on!

It was not much of a “debate”. The one question I was really hoping that they would ask was “If you are elected leader of the Liberal Party, will you immediately turn over the unredacted documents (as ordered by the House), showing where the missing hundreds of MILLIONS went from the Green Slush Fund? Who are the 90 “conflicts of interest” identified by the Auditor General? Legally, until they do, Parliament cannot discuss any new business. Our Government was shuttered over this before Trudeau prorogued. It’s like the white elephant in the room. They figure if they just ignore it, it will go away.

I think that Pierre would love to have her in his sights rather than the Banker!

Was Carney reading from a script when he was untruthful to all Canadians about his letter and recommendation to shareholders about relocating the offices of Brookfield Asset Management to Trump’s neighbourhood in New York City?

Given his recent contradictory comments in British Columbia and Quebec in regard to where he stands on building an East West pipeline it is clear to this Canadian, he is a close cousin to the outgoing Prime Minister when his coronation is completed.

Never thought in my wildest dreams that I would root for Freeland. My dead departed dog has cast his vote.

Oh, you mean a master class in reading from a script during a liberal infomercial (err, debate?)?. Bringing a “calculator to a knife fight”, absolutely hilarious quote from her, I think she’d be nervous in a room with a boy scout and a pocket knife in his knapsack.

I guess the story of Mark Carney caught lying about having no involvement in moving Brookfield’s office to New York City, Trump’s home town is not news worthy?

Incase some readers think I’m spreading unkind rumors, look up the letter he signed to the board of Brookfield and its shareholders supporting and encouraging the move to NYC. While out of the other side of his mouth saying he will stand up to Trump to protect Canadian jobs. Words cannot describe how low this guy will sink.

Agree Michael with regard to Gould’s communication skills. The script reading rather than thinking on her feet was blatantly obvious.

Editor’s note: Let’s be fair here. They were all reading from scripts.
