Graffiti on the Pier railings destroys a quiet pleasant space

BURLINGTON, ON

I needed to get some fresh air after dinner and before heading to the Performing Arts Centre for their Members Only event.

I decided to walk out to the end of the Pier and enjoy the lake for a few minutes.

The Gazette covered the construction of the Pier like a wet blanket when it was being built.

There are other ways to leave your mark. This kind of graffiti takes away what the Pier has to offer to those who look for some peace and quiet and a place to sit down and chat with friends.

There was an attachment to the place that was marred by the graffiti that people had scratched into the metal rail.  Made the place look a little shoddy and took away the pristine look people have come to expect.

The city is now going to have to send staff out to repaint the metal railings.  And maybe install a politely worded message asking people to respect the place.

Put security camera up and capture the miscreants who do things like this.

Kinda brings to mind the reason a dog pees on a post or whatever. It’s a marker disclosing that I was here. Same mentality of some people who deface public property…..total lack of respect.

Unfortunately graffiti and tagging is prevalent throughout our city.

now the brick wall is covered in it as well, Reflects poorly on the city to all our out of town tourists that stay at the local hotel

Pepper, may I ask how full were the garbage cans near the pier? I often see them completely overflowing. Disgusting. Hopefully the large tax increases we have been absorbing the last few years in Burlington will facilitate their management.

Response: I didn’t see any garbage bins.

I did pause in front of the “mental health bench” painted a bright yellow. Thot Lucy of Peanuts fame should set up a table with her The Dr, Is In sign.

Judging by one of the dates, 2020, the city has left it like this for years. It must be hard though to keep up with stuff like this railing, potholes in the roads, etc. After all they are busying themselves with beautifying (?) City Hall, then there’s Bateman, the arena, etc, etc. They can’t spend my money on everything; my pocket isn’t deep enough!
