BURLINGTON, ON
It is getting very dangerous when a private residence is broken into while the residents are in the building.
A home on Waterdown Road is reported to have been broken into in the early hours of August 21, with a lone suspect stealing a Mercedes from the property.
The suspect is described as brown skinned with black hair and masked. Entry is reported to have been through forcing the front door. No weapon was seen and no injuries have been reported, but the resident was threatened verbally.
Halton Regional Police say the investigation is ongoing.
A strong statement from the Chief of Police and quick action on the part of the detectives assigned to this case are vital as this point. People are afraid.
“People are afraid” and they have every right to be after being informed and depending on we are one of the safest cities in Canada. At least that’s the position after review of reported Halton crime. There are officers swho have spoken up and Mayor Kranz is just one witness to public statement that Halton crime is under reported. Our audit filles would agree,
Actually, this article which was in the Spec just last week shows why people are afraid: not enough is being done to stop this. “Our car was stolen from our driveway. Nothing was done.”

This is a huge problem, I saw a recent post that numerous homes were broken into in the same fashion all in one night in the Tyandaga area earlier this summer. Sometimes people are being targeted while out doing errands, and assaulted as their car is stolen from them. There are home invasions happening all across the GTA every night. In one case, the stolen car was then spotted by police speeding down the QEW towards Niagara, but nothing was done because they were going too fast to safely give chase. It seems the system favours the criminals. One wonders why the stolen cars can be put on ships in Montreal and sent out of the country so easily.
