BURLINGTON, ON
We are in the midst of a flurry of elections.

Are these Conservative policy statements or just a bunch of people with signs they were given to hold up and have their picture taken?
We’ve watched with dropped jaws as Donald Trump was inaugurated and note that he has backed away just a little bit on his threat to smack 25% tariffs on goods brought into the United States.
That hasn’t stopped Ontario Premier Doug Ford saying he needs a mandate to fight what the Americans are going to do to the Ontario economy.
The request for an election – could be as early as February 5th – is one way of keeping the RCMP from announcing the results of their Greenbelt investigation.
Federally, the Liberals are working at getting a new leader and then preparing for an election – which everyone expects to take place sometime in March. That federal election doesn’t have to take place until the fall of 2025 – expect the Liberals to find a way to hold the election as far into the future as possible.
Meanwhile, the Conservatives are now struggling to get their story out. In the photograph we use it looks as if those Conservatives have not managed to get past a collection of simple statements that have attracted a lot of attention,
Simple statements are not policy – Canadians don’t yet know what the Liberal policies are going to be – some of that will be revealed during the new leadership race. More will become public when the federal election is announced.
Fluid would be an appropriate word to describe what is taking place.
