BURLINGTON, ON
The city has moved from Rainbow benches and crosswalks to Pride Poles. This one has been installed at Lakeshore Road and Burlington Street.
They will certainly be cheaper than the cross walks that didn’t wear all that well.
Is it going to be one per ward with the Council member deciding where they will be located?
Which budget will the cost come out of?
Is there a point at which fully recognizing the 2SLGBTQ+ (an acronym for: Two-Spirit, Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer or Questioning and additional sexual orientations and gender identities) has been met?
I’d like to see something more effective on the intimate partner relationship violence.
There is Pride Poles on Upper Middle Rd. in front of M.M. Robinson High School.
I guess the City has found a less expensive way to let the public know that Burlington is “fully recognizing the 2SLGBTQ”.
A pole, bench or sidewalk is a “woke” way of dealing with trying to advocate for change.
How long do you think it will take for graffiti to appear on these poles?
I think that education would be a much more effective way of dealing with the harassment and bullying that this group has to deal with.
Oh well check off the inclusion box and move on.
Just a question – and not actually about the Pride Poles per se. Why is it that this Mayor and this Council, when challenged about their spending priorities and their tendency for visible virtue signalling, that they “double down”. Is it a measure of their arrogance or just an inability to effectively listen and lead?
Simple answer : The Mayor is a Liberal.
Editor’s note: That is a simplistic answer – please – think before you comment
