I am thirsty

We remember the day.

We call it Good Friday.

The saints Mark, Luke and John are believed to have said the following at the time.

Luke 23:34, “Father, forgive them; for they do not know what they are doing.”

Luke 23:43, “Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in Paradise.”

Mark 15:34; Matthew 27:46, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”

John 19:26-27, “Woman, here is your son… Here is your mother.”

John 19:28, “I am thirsty.”

John 19:30, “It is finished.”

The part I treasure about Luke’s account of the two thieves on the cross, is that just one recognized his need for a savior in the person of Jesus. That thief is now in heaven for all eternity. No seminary education. No good deeds. No amount of Bible verses memorized. Just God’s mercy & grace. Hallelujah, what a Savior!

Dave and I see this as the holiest day of the year and begin every day giving thanks for it before presenting our daily petitions. What we believe occurred is the foundation of the hope we always carry in our hearts despite the circumstances we face that can become overwhelming if that hope that we are assured will not disappoint, ever faded. .
