BURLINGTON, ON

It certainly is a photo op that we are proud to publish.

On January 23, 2024, Karina Gould  welcomed her daughter Taya.

Taya

“Welcome, Taya!   Alberto, Oliver, and I are overjoyed to introduce the newest member of our family. She arrived January 23rd. I am grateful to say that both baby and I are happy and healthy.

“I can’t say thank you enough to the amazing Burlington & Area Midwives, Lucia, Erica and Rachel, who ensured a safe pregnancy and delivery. As well as the nursing team at the maternal and child health unit at Joseph Brant Hospital. We are so fortunate to have such outstanding people working in our health teams in Burlington.

“I will be spending the next little while with my family but look forward to resuming my duties as Leader of the Government in the House of Commons in August.

“I will continue my work, on a reduced schedule, as the Member of Parliament for Burlington, serving my constituents and working remotely to vote in the House and participate in caucus and cabinet meetings. My constituency office remains open and operating like normal to serve constituents.

Thank you to all who have sent kind words and good wishes throughout my pregnancy and the arrival of my new baby.

David – Thanks for the response…. Although 5 arracks out of 557 good wishes is certainly positive and good to see. It may be that I’m a bit of a dinosaur, but even ANY personal attacks like these I find offensive. They don’t add to our quality of life. Unfortunately, I must have somehow missed the JT attacks. I’ll try to research them.

Allan, you should have seen the social media attacks on Anaida Poilievre, the ultra right wing Diagolon said they wanted to rape her, which is kinda odd because Trudeau accuses Poilievre of encouraging them, even the CBC got in on the act saying she was a nobody until she met Pierre, I wish you well with your research, just keep your mind open.

David – “no return comments” -Perhaps if you look closer you will find that I did take at least 2 people to task for using this post as a personal attack platform.

Apologies, I see you. You were defending Karina Gould in a congratulatory post from the Mayor, I was looking at the the comments attacking Karina Gould directly; still not bad though 5-personal attacks out of 557 good wish posts. Just out of curiosity did you defend any of the over 200 attacks on Justin Trudeaus 290 replies to his congratulatory post? Facebook filtered them out but they can still be viewed.

Just checked her Facebook page again, 557 comments of congratulations, 7 of these are politically negative including the ones from yesterday, 5 are personal attacks, there are no return comments posted to the above 12?

We wish you many blessings on the birth of Taya, Karina.

Gary and Carol Scobie and our two daughters who attended MMR with you.

    Allan H. is absolutely right!

Whatever you may think of Ms. Gould’s political views, now is not a time to unload on social media. Unfortunately, social media is equivalent to the “Wild Wild West”. There is no control, there is no decorum, there is no civility, and there is certainly no decency. Fifty years ago, if someone wrote a letter to the editor that contained some of the vitriol that is now spewed forth regularly on X, Facebook or other sites, it would never see the light of day. Now, anything goes.

I’m reading an amazing book right now called “The Chaos Machine” by Max Fisher. Every chapter reveals yet another aspect of the dangerous, destructive and manipulative world of social media. A sad commentary on the times in which we live.

Just checked her page out 408 comments I only counted 6 politically negative the rest were all congratulatory? Maybe they took them down?
    Anyways, congratulations to Karina Gould.

I think respectful disagreement with the Liberals on their policies & delivery, and empathy for individual members and their losses (i.e. Trudeau’s marriage breakup) or their gains (i.e. Ms. Gould’s new baby) can healthily co-exist. Congratulations Karina & family!

Congratulations to Karina, Alberto and Oliver, and welcome Taya.

I am sick and tired of all the political ranker that has been attached to her Facebook post. I have fought back with my own comments. This is a joyous occasion. not one where political hacks can spew their sometime personal attacks on her. Seems to be a sign of the times….use Social media (no accountability or responsibility ) as a platform for these attacks. Heaven help us…..
