Marit Stiles going after the government during debate in the Legislature

Marit Stiles, Leader of the Opposition at Queen’s Park is not going to give up on hounding the Ford government.

In a media release this morning she said: “We are going to use every legislative tool available to us to get to the bottom of the Ford Conservatives’ corruption scandal and restore trust, transparency and accountability at Queen’s Park,”

Official Opposition NDP Leader, Marit Stiles, has tabled a motion to form a special Select Committee to investigate how the Conservatives rigged the Greenbelt process to benefit a few of their speculator friends.

.“People have lost trust in this government. Too many questions remain,” Stiles said. “Who in the government tipped off speculators to the Greenbelt changes?

Who made the decision to change policy direction? We’ll keep asking questions until we uncover the full extent of the government’s all-too cozy relationships with well-connected speculators.”

A prior Select Committee helped uncover misconduct in the former Liberal government’s gas plants scandal, which led to the former Premier’s chief of staff sentenced to four months in jail.

The creation of that Select Committee was supported by MPPs from all parties.“A Select Committee is yet another tool Ontario’s Official Opposition is using to resurrect trust and accountability in government,” Stiles said.

Is there a point to this rant? Attributing the past mistakes made by in a different time by different people is a waste of time. The “Progressive” Conservative Party of today is not the Progressive Conservative party of years ago, and neither are the NDP or Liberals, even though they all use the same labels. And demanding that the current opposition somehow take charge and fix things is pointless when the incumbent MPPs in power (including our own) are the ones sitting on their hands.

Perry whatever could be your reason for believing 90+ deathly health care improper practices and the improper actions of several Chief Coroners should be ignored.

Your acceptance of the failure to call the inquest the Deputy Chief Coroner Jim Cairns nvestigation and the Coroner’s Act required to take place for EB et al, is bewildering. The Regional Supervising Coroner gave the JBH outbreak deaths investigation commencing the weekend of April 8/9, 2006 that title in May 2006 . Jo Brant are on the record they were unaware they had an outbreak that was killing patients until 2007 when the evidence that likely led to the calling of the inquest showed they knew the outbreak was in existence in April 2006 and failed to begin reporting it as legislation requires. Denying patients seeking care the right to know a deadly bacterial virus was taking its deathly toll. Many, such as Savoline former Chair of the Region and John Tory as well as families called for an Inquiry and were ignored to the detriment of many.

The LIsa Shore hospital death by homicide finding was the result of another Dr. Jim Cairns decision that an inquest was required. We should never give up speaking out about the 90+ deaths caused by improper practices, NOT MISTAkES until the law is upheld with regard to the legislated responsibility in Ontario that when someone as experienced as Cairns calls an inquest to speak for dead to protect the living,.it happens no matter how long it takes.

Each one of those 90+ deaths deserves as much respect for truth and justice as Lisa Shore did and the protection every living Ontarian got with that finding and inquest jury recommendations. Your child/grandchild could well have benefitted from the Cairns decision, you will never know. You can read about the struggle of Lisa’s family to protect the living in No moral Conscience.you can purchase on line, you will be shocked at the lengths went to hide the truth that resulted in a homicide finding. Even more shocking than the Coroner incompetence in the Tammy Homolka Coroner investigation that lead to the unnecessary deaths of Leslie Mahaffey and Kristen French.

Marit like all politicians before you, you concentrate on the opportunity to say how
lousy a job is done by those in power.and how you can do so much better.

You fail to remember how the NDP had a great chance to put right through public inquiry the conditions and enormous blindfolds you all wore with regard to the 91÷ mainly elderly vulnerable who died seeking care at JBH April 2006 – 2008 and instead of leaving with their shoulder hip or other issue fixed by surgery or in the ER, they left in a body bag.

NDP Had the perfect chance to make things better for elderly and vulnerable sectors of our community seeking health care in the times that followed, failed.

You did a good job in getting the apology that was necessary and plans changed now start cleaning up the issues that going to the ER or hospital or LTC are creating for our families. The truth about what the government and Coroners office knew that took so many lives at JBH unnecessarily. These same mistakes according to the Ombudsman impacted with over 4 000 Covid Deaths. Legislation is very clear on outbreak responsibilities and how to curtail impact. Problem is those responsible for implanting or checking complianCY withl legislation are sleeping on the job or can’t read!!!!!
