Mayor Meed Ward
Mayor Meed Ward advised her colleagues this morning that she was withdrawing her Motion which was to consider the temporary elimination of development charges.
The option in front of Council is now the Community Improvement Plan.
Staff will debate how a Community Improvement Plan could be implemented and what the limitations would be.
It will be a lengthy discussion.

What a joke. How does keeping sky high taxes on new development help our keep our property taxes low? The average new home in the GTA pays over $381,000 of fees and taxes. $115k for City and Region development charges. Then permit fees, community fees, parkland fees etc. etc. If we have no new development we have no new property tax revenue. That means our taxes will go up!
I agree with “Downtown Resident” and would like to add that motorcycle noise is out of control!
Graham, you must know by now she never loses.
She simply “pivots”.
So glad to hear as residents we are being listened to
Does this mean she lost?
Property Taxes continue to increase.
Transient Traffic continues to be a huge problem every evening.
Downtown is at a standstill whenever there is an accident on the hwy.
Unnecessary on street patios add to the congestion.
Definitely looking for new leadership for Burlington
When it come to our Mayor, I don’t have much to say to her, property taxes just keep going up , when does it stop, we need change!!!
