The Prime Minister had a great day.
Prime Minister Mark Carney, with his wife to his left, works the crowd waiting for the King to arrive.
He was out on the streets with people glad glad-handing like a politician with a decade under his belt.
There was a video clip floating around of Minister Melanie Joly sliding from her seat in the front row in the House of Commons to sit in the seat next to Prime Minister Carney who was burrowed into the work in front of him
Carney didn’t even raise his head – he just reached out with his left arm and flipped his hand, telling Joly – not now.
Joly slid back to her seat.
The relationship with King Charles III was much better. At the risk of putting words in the mouth of the King – the photograph below suggests the King and the Prime Minister were both pleased with the statement: The True North Strong and Free that was part of the Speech from the Throne.
At the risk of putting words in his mouth, one can imagine the King saying: ‘We pulled if off, didn’t we – The True North Strong and Free. Almost as good as De Gaulle’s “Vive le Quebec Libre”

I thought this was an embarrassment for the King, the speech he read was clearly written by Liberal staffers, and should have been “read” by the GG.
It sounded like a British tourist reading a speech someone passed to him.
The King should have written his own speech, in his own words, then followed by the GG – an opportunity missed.

Hang on a minute. Everyone knows the Speech was written by the Liberal Party. The King does not get to interfere with what the government chooses to do. And you Michael should know that. This is pure disinformation on your part. Penalty box for you pal.
The King does not choose the GG; the government makes a recommendation and the King is obliged to accept that recommendation.
You have been south of the border too long – your thinking, which is usually pretty good, has been polluted. Five minute penalty – that translates to a month in the penalty box
Yes they all pulled it off God Bless Canada and God Save the King.
