BURLINGTON, ON
School will be different come next September.

Minister of Education Paul Calandra
The Minister of Education has announced that high schoolers will face final exams worth anywhere from 10 to 25 percent depending on the class, a change Education Minister Paul Calandra said is based on what he’s heard from teachers time and time again.
We’d like to hear what both parents think and what the change will mean to those who want to go on to post-public school education.
Students are just into the summer break – not the kind of thing they will want to be thinking about.

There has been questions around whether students should have 2 months off in the summer.
Originally this was done so that the children of farmers could help out on the farm. Times have changed. Not that farmers need help, but the fact that most students do not live on farms.
It takes teachers practically the whole month of September to “refresh” the students to get them back at the place to start learning again.
Perhaps it is time to rethink this break and have a few 2 week breaks between semesters.
