BURLINGTON, ON
It seems kind of quiet on the political front.
Behind the scenes, those running for the job of Premier of Ontario or the leader of the Liberal Party of Canada are talking to almost anyone who will listen to them.
In Burlington Emily Brown announced that the Conservatives raised $15,000 in two weeks. Earlier in the month Karina Gould announced she had raised $50,000 in two days.
Gould was raising money for her leadership bid; Brown was raising money for her run to become the Burlington MP.
The race for the leadership of the Liberal Party of Canada has Mark Carney clearly leading Chrystia Freeland. The question is – where will the Chrystia votes go on the second ballot count.
Turning to the provincial election that will take place on February 27th, the four parties – Liberals, Conservatives, Greens and New Democrats all have their candidates nominated. Andrea Grebenc has a campaign manager and a communications director in place.
The Gazette is on the Natalie Pierre black list. She wasn’t available during the last election and we don’t expect anything different this time around.
Based on the excellent job Andrea Grebenc did as Chair of the Halton District School Board – this is her election to lose.
Meanwhile, Doug Ford will now try to convince us that he needs to have a bigger mandate in order to save the country from the dreaded tariffs the American president says he is going to impose.
The joy in having Trump and Ford in the same news cycle is we get to hear to blowhards.
Marit Stiles is now riding around in a nicely decorated bus.

I thought Stiles would be on a bicycle!
Editor’s note: You certainly underestimate what this woman has done and will do. She will be reelected as an MPP. And don’t be surprised if she is the Leader of the Opposition in a minority Progressive Conservative government.
Doug Ford does not have the capacity to deal with that kind of situation.
