BURLINGTON, ON

Ward 5 Councillor Paul Sharman

Ward 5 Councillor Paul Sharman has announced that he will run for re-election on October 26th.

He has served as a Councillor since 2010.

In his announcement, he said he “would meet with people in their communities if that is what they want.”

There are a lot of questions that need asking.

Sharman has not been a public transit advocate, but in the recent past there appeared to be a change in his thinking.

What has he done in the 16 years in office, I know he apparently loves accounting, I guess that’s important for when he’s counting all the “gifts” I’m sure he’s been accepting and helping others in office accept.

Abrasive, ignorant, abusive, and uninformed – just the job for him. His closeness to MMW and all she misrepresents is a perfect match.

Don’t look for any innovation here, he’s just going ‘bobble head’ his way through meetings and essentially take a 4-year holiday with pay.

I have been saying this for years.

There needs to be a term policy in place. Two terms and then you move on.

We need someone who really cares .Please not again.

Not too much of a surprise. Where else is Sharman going to earn so much for so little particularly at his venerable age? But two questions attend; are the people of Ward 5 going to finally wake up to his “schtick” after 16 lazy years and will the development community support his 2026 campaign to the same extent that it did in 2010, 2014, 2018 and 2022? Indeed, do developers still need his ‘friendly voice’ at Council with much now decided in their favour? I suppose there is a third question. If Meed Ward does not run in 2026, as is the current rumour and wisdom, then where will Sharman park his xxxx for the next four years? “Plus ça change, plus c’est la même chose”.

What is the definition of apathy in a Ward? Doing the same thing for over 15 years!
