BURLINGTON, ON

Caution – this is very disturbing material.

Regan Russell, run over by a tractor trailer in June of 2020 at the gate to the Fearman Pork plant on Harvester Road.

The full story of what happened to Regan Russell on  Friday, June 19, 2020, when a tractor trailer ran her down as it was entering the Fearman pork processing plant on Harvester Road has never been told.  An investigation by the Toronto Star is very revealing and raises a lot of questions.

What is more disturbing is that the Judge never got to see or here what you are about to see.  The truck driver entered a plea  of guilty, was fined $2000. His driving was restricted to work hours for one year.

We read this Donovan piece late last night and are horrified that the polce 911 call was not before the Justice of the Peace. The Burlington resident who accidently left his baby in a car and the baby died was charged with Criminal Negligence causing death, a Criminal Code offence. If this was not a phone call instruction but rather a police officer in front of the truck holding up his hand for him to stop and the truck driver began driving contrary to the police instruction there would have, without a doubt been criminal charges laid.

The police command to not move was obtained directly by the driver calling police. The phone call should have been put before the Court by the Crown as a clear disobedience of a police order that caused the death. It was the most important fact of the investigation. Surely the Crown should be investigated as clearly the 911 recording shows the Crown obstructed justice being served.

How hard must this be on her husband and family to swallow. Our thoughts and prayers are with them and we hope one day they will be able to take time out and grieve rather than what they have been forced to do to ensure the truth is known. .

The video is behind the paywall on the Toronto Star site.
It is available for free on YouTube.

Why was the driver given a plea deal?
Why was it before a Justice of the Peace and not a Real Judge?

Provincial offences are tried by JPs This was clearly covered by Criminal Code;why Crown chose path he/she did and left out most important facts is something we need to take up with our MPPs to take up with our AG and SG. This is blatantly wrong and should have the community addressing the Chief of Police to determine did the police relay the police recording to the Crown, if not why not, police passing the buck on this one shouldn’t be tolerated. How many more i such iinjusticesl lie in Halton police filing cabinets has been a significant question for years, in some cases 17 years.

We even sent the Chief a cartoon that addressed such on Twitter. In the 2018 election a Milton candidate raised what he was being told at police officer doors that crime was not always being investigated the theory being to protect our crime stats. Mayor Gord Kranz witnessed this and all candidates being asked by myself if they would take action to stop this. I was running for Regional Chair in 2018 due to a ban on Dave and I being issued trespass notices without any supporting bylaw that kept us away from the Burlington lectern until after the election.
