BURLINGTON, ON

First look – early word on the trump tariff announcement.

Trump with a list of tariffs that will be levied on it – Canada was not included.

As usual, Trump rambled, but the consensus, such as it is – isn’t as negative as many expected.

Everyone is, of course, waiting for copies of the Executive orders.  Trump signed just two of them, and they didn’t seem to be all that long.

Federal Cabinet to meet within the hour.

More details will be provided later today.

Argentina is on its way to zero tariffs with the US….We don’t even have that within Canada.

John Kennedy, a U.S. Senator from Louisiana, spoke with Mark Carney in Washington. He advised Carney to reduce all Canadian tariffs to zero, promising that President Trump would reciprocate. Kennedy stated that such a move would foster true competition, ultimately leading to better pricing for both sides.
I would add that even tariffs between Provinces should be eliminated.
