War in Ukraine started four years ago - with no end in site

BURLINGTON, ON

The war in Ukraine started four years ago.

Six million people have been displaced inside the country, and some four million have left Ukraine.

More than 100,000 are estimated to have been killed

Millions live under occupation in areas that Russia controls.

Each day at 11, soldiers killed in action are buried in the Saints Peter and Paul Garrison Church.

Lviv, which has been subjected to only intermittent assault, has transformed itself into a city that visibly lives and breathes the war.

A large stand in Market Square, updated every morning at 9, displays the photos and biographies of soldiers who will be buried that day.

This was the war Donald Trump was going to end the day after he was inaugurated.

Underground schools have become part of Ukraine’s unbreakability.

Lviv has become the world capital of amputations and prosthetics.  More than 100,000 men and women are believed to have lost limbs.

And this war is far from over.

Keep the Ukrainian people in your thoughts and prayers.

As a Ukrainian Canadian, thank you for acknowledging and keeping Ukrainians and those on the front line in your “thoughts and prayers.”

I would like to comment a little further as I’m not sure what Lviv’s limbs and prosthetic count has to do with the invasion. To also worth noting, every Ukrainian city honours daily, the war dead with a moment of silence and acknowledges their heroes with flag and picture. You will see it in each Ukrainian city, even prior to 2022.

So much to say but I will keep it brief.

To begin and remind, it was putin and russia who, in 2022, launched a full-scale genocidal INVASION of Ukraine, a sovereign country who gained their independence in 1991; the reason why there is no THE in front of Ukraine when you speak of this country, today.

On an aside, the capital of Ukraine is spelled Kyiv. Many of the cities in Ukraine have changed their spellings since 1999 to represent their independence.

Volydymyr Zelenskyy, a multi-talented individual, has been the President of Ukraine since 2019 and was elected in a fair, democratic and just election. Some say that he was elected in a sham election but I was there as a Long Term Election Observer representing Canada and it was very much democratic. Many Canadians were there representing our country observing this election, as a matter of fact.

The murdering, torturing, kidnapping and raping of Ukrainians are at the hands of putin and his soldiers. They focus on Ukrainian civilians more than they do military targets to instil fear and terror.

Ukrainian children have been kidnapped at the hands of putin and his soldiers. Reports say about 20,000 Ukrainian children have been kidnapped but many officials say it is closer to 35,000. Every child needs to be returned to Ukraine.

To also remind, russia INVADED Eastern Ukraine in 2014, so technically russia has been fighting for 12 years now with nothing to show for it.

    Crime is Ukraine
    Luhansk is Ukraine
    Donetsk is Ukraine
    Mariupol is Ukraine
    The Donbas Region is Ukraine

Every part that makes up Ukraine IS Ukraine and will never be surrendered…not one inch

Ukrainians neither wanted the war nor provoked it.

putin said he would take Ukraine in 3 days and today marks 4 years from the full scale invasion.

The war WILL BE OVER when putin and russia leaves ALL of Ukraine. It IS as simple as that!

Burlington and surrounding areas in the Halton region have a very robust Ukrainian community. I encourage you to reach out to them or even one of the Ukrainian Canadian Congress Chapters (Toronto, Hamilton) to learn more about this ongoing russian invasion.

    Their website is http://www.ucc.ca

Thank you to all who have and continue to support democracy, humanity and our Ukrainian communities overseas and in our own backyard.

I wonder how many Canadians realize that China is a major financier of Russia’s war in Ukraine to the tune of 65% and most recently Carney has cozied up to the the CPC.

The CPC has not intention of ending this war according to British Military Intelligence as it draws resources from the west and creates chaos.

We are allowing their EV’s into Canada, increasing cultural, security and other economic ties, while sending money to Ukraine in support of the war.

    This makes no sense.

To be fair, Trump did prevent and stop several other wars but this one is tough because both apposing leaders hate each other with a unmatched passion. A big part of stopping this war is to choke out Russia. No country should be buying their oil, and if they are, they are feeding Russia’s war machine.
