Was the high quality city calendar printed twice?

BURLINGTON, ON

If you were one of the several hundred people listening to Mayor Meed Ward talk about the State of the City on Friday at the Burlington Convention Centre,  the table you were at would include a copy of a calendar for 2025.

The photographs used were very nice.  They were printed on high-quality glossy paper and contained the dates of events for the various Regional and City public meetings.  For those involved in city affairs, it is a really useful collection of information.

If in doubt about when a meeting is taking place – turn to the calendar.

Two items of interest.

We don’t know how many copies were printed but we have been told that the calendar was printed twice by a usually reliable source who is in a position to know.  There apparently was an error.

The other concern is why were they printed at all.

Data like this should be available online – in a calendar format.

Mayor Meed Ward continually speaks to her personal preference which is to go online for whatever information she needs.

When the calendar was first announced the Mayor did say that a limited number were being printed.

The calendar is being touted as the City of Burlington calendar featuring photographs by local photographers. According to the mayor’s latest softball interview on CHCH, there were 340 photos submitted. They chose their 12, yet had room for not one but two photos of the mayor – one on the cover and one on the inside cover, along with her “message”, I am told. She left two copies at CHCH and promised to bring another one next month … seems clear what this is really all about, no? How much it cost – including the reprint – is a question to which I imagine no answer would be forthcoming.

The mayor also said that the calendars were available to citizens at the Library.
I went to 2 libraries and neither knew what I was talking about.
