BURLINGTON, ON
City Hall was shut down and Staff evacuated and then went into a lengthy hold and secure process that lasted more than seven hours.
The threat was made at around 2 p.m. yesterday (Nov. 26) and lasted late into the night to ensure the safety of everyone in the building.
What has yet to be made clear is the actual threat. Some reports say it was a phone call, another report had the threat made by someone from the mail floor of city hall.

Some reports have the intruder standing in the middle of the ground level of city hall. No dat from anyone on this matter.
A representative from the city stated that the hold and secure was lifted at around 11 p.m. last night, but did not respond to questions on the nature of the threat and who it was directed towards.
Const. Jeffery Dillon, a media relations officer with the Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS), added that the hold and secure was initiated by the city itself as per City Hall policies and was not initiated by the police.
Nothing else?
An arrest was made.
No court date given and so far no names.
This doesn’t pass the smell test.
In the eight hours the building was shut down, there was enough time to search every nook and cranny in the building?

I have had dealings with Mr. Khana and it appears that Mr. Edwards has as well. Enough said on that score. I have also had an experience with a perceived public threat – in this case a bomb threat – at the provincial government building on St. Paul Street. in St. Catharines. The police evacuated the building (which was/is larger than Burlington City Hall) and brought in the bomb squad and the robotic devices. Nine hours later, after a very thorough search, people were allowed back into the building and learned that we had been “threatened” by someone’s unclaimed lunch. A case of bologna bravado and the sandwich met a bad end. My point is that this is what happens when the police consider the situation to be potentially serious. This reaction did not happen at Burlington City Hall. The ‘lock down’ was initiated by the City and the whole “we have been escorted out by the police and we are safe” scenario was self-imposed. Why does so much drama – melodrama really – continuously attend our mayor? Is anyone suspicious of the convenient synergy between this episode and MMW’s newest crusade – respect for and civility towards female politicians? Did she engineer this drama? Of course not! Did she try to take advantage of it? Well, if it didn’t turn out to be so inherently silly in the final analysis, then perhaps.
Bingo. sounded like a publicity stunt for our virtue signalling Mayor
Melodrama is the perfect word.
The mayor’s social media posts and media comments dramatically announcing that council was “escorted out and all are safe” after the city – not the police – did the hold and secure seems like more of the usual:
Victim, hero, victim, hero … repeat ad nauseam, emphasis on nauseam.
It’s embarrassing.
Heard through the “grape vine” so-to-speak he’s a local designer/builder in the Hamilton/Halton area and has been around for a while. He’s not a big name that anybody would recognize, just a little guy with a big chip on his shoulder. He’s had his run-in’s with both the City of Hamilton and Burlington in the past for various issues e.g. permits, bylaw, zoning, etc. He and his family are no strangers to both criminal and provincial offences courtrooms. Just one of those guys who feels rules/codes/laws etc are optional and don’t really apply to him cuz he’s special.
I’ll give you a hint. His company is R & R Design.
He masquerades as an architect but has no qualifications.
Bail hearing took place for Richie Khanna of R & R Design.
Exact details should be shared with general public
Something isn’t right here. I sure hope the Gazette stays on this.
